My Favorite Moments as a Wedding Photographer

For me, the best thing about being a professional wedding photographer is getting to share in the most beautiful and meaningful moments of a couple’s big day. Every wedding has its own special highlights, and they’re not always at the times you might expect. Here are some of my favorite wedding photography moments, part 1…

Flower Power (see header photo)

There’s nothing quite like the moment a couple walks away from the alter as man and wife. This was Vishal and Resham’s moment at the Peninsula Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The shower of petals is just the icing on this beautiful cake!

A Walk in Nature

One of the most recent weddings I’ve photographed, this moment is from Lysa and Yi's gorgeous celebration in the suburbs of Washington DC, USA. They were just having so much fun together in our shoot, and this adorable photo captures the entire mood of their day.

The First Look

This capture of stunning bride Resham was taken right before her husband-to-be, Lavi, appeared on the scene in Hua Hin, Thailand. The look in her eyes says she knows exactly what she’s doing: marrying her soulmate.

Splash Down!

Captured at their pool party, one of the many fun events Shamira and Raza held to celebrate their marriage at the Ritz Carlton Bali, Indonesia. This image really embodies the energy and playfulness of these two beautiful free spirits.

The Couple that Laughs Together…

Christal and Kushaal held an Indian wedding ceremony and a Western civil signing ceremony followed by an intimate dinner celebration. This candid moment was captured at the latter. Their body language is just so open and loving, not to mention those huge grins. It never fails to make me smile as well!

Making an Entrance

When you’re a makeup artist to the stars, you HAVE to make a jaw-dropping entrance at your own wedding. This is how the fabulous Natasha Moor started the dance routine at her Sangeet celebrations in Cebu, Philippines. Talk about stage presence!

Lost in Love

I took this photo as newlyweds Priyanka and Harsh entered the grand ballroom of the Intercontinental Hong Kong for their wedding gala dinner. I love the serene, almost bewildered look on the beautiful bride’s face, and the look of pure pride and joy on the groom’s.

Ladies in Waiting

A big part of the fun on the bride’s big day is getting ready with her closest girl friends. Here gorgeous wife-to-be Elizabeth shares a giggle with her bridesmaids in Koh Samui, Thailand. Such a sweet scene of fun and friendship!

Show and Tell

These two just look so cute together, it kills me! Here Stephanie and Shaane simply can’t keep their adoring eyes off each other as she shows him the intricacies of her bridal henna art.

Let’s Dance

The first dance can be a stressful experience for some newlyweds, but Kamali and Nikhil made it look easy. Such elegance and poise, complemented perfectly by the lighting that fitted the night’s Classic Hollywood theme.

Family First

Marriage is all about family, so this sweet shot from Kate and Roger’s Hong Kong wedding says it all. I love how the three hands are clasped together (and the petals in Phoenix’s hair, of course).

Finishing Touches

This lovely moment is from my first ever wedding photography shoot in India. Here is glam bride Payal Shah wearing a Manish Malhotra gown, no less, patiently waiting as her bestie puts the finishing touches to her jewelry. What are friends for, after all?

Show Time

It was a joy photographing Sonam & Vishal’s incredible wedding reception in Singapore. This beautiful couple partied the night away on stage with Bollywood duo Vishal & Shekhar until 4AM!

I would also like to thank the amazing wedding planners, decorators, makeup artists, venue & artist managers and, of course, the couples and their families for making these photos possible. Hopefully these moments will be enjoyed for generations to come.

7 Top Tips for Destination Wedding Photographers

Having been a professional wedding photographer in Hong Kong for many years, I’m now getting booked for more and more destination weddings in far flung and exotic locations such as India, Thailand and the USA. Preparing for any wedding is a big job, but shooting a huge event somewhere unfamiliar requires a whole new level of attention to detail. It’s an honor to be chosen as someone's destination wedding photographer, and of course you want to do your couple proud.

Why international couples are following the Chinese trend of pre-wedding photo shoots

If you’re not Chinese or acquainted with modern Chinese marriage customs, it can be rather puzzling to see a woman in a bridal gown and full makeup pounding pavements in her sneakers while being followed by a sweating man in a suit, an entourage of stylists, and a camera crew. No, this isn’t a magazine shoot or a film set - you’ve stumbled across a couple taking pre-wedding photographs.
