What a magical year 2019 was!? I never knew it was possible but 2019 was even better than the year before! As a Hong Kong-based photographer I had the honor of photographing some amazing events, hosting numerous mobile photography & social media workshops, capturing stunning weddings in Hong Kong and destination weddings in Asia and much, much more! Here, I’d like to celebrate with you, my top instagram moments from 2019!

The year kicked off with my good friends, Lulu and Michael’s super fun pre-wedding shoot in Hong Kong! Lulu was such a pleasure to photograph and this bridal portrait here is exactly why I love what I do! I could not have asked for a better way to start the year!
How do you celebrate your milestone birthday? With a stylish photoshoot of course! And that's exactly what the always beautiful entrepreneur and influencer Payal Shah did! Many people know me as a Hong Kong wedding photographer but I also do quite a bit of editorial fashion shoots for Hong Kong’s most influential people and top luxury brands.
March’s top images goes to this beautiful bride, Lily Puhler! Her and hubby Travis’ wedding was held at the elegant Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, with world class wedding planning by Marriage Maestros. As a professional wedding photographer, I’m always looking for new and creative perspectives and the hotel’s grand staircase was the perfect spot for this gorgeous bride to shine!
In April I had the privilege of capturing Hong Kong’s sporting event of the year, the Hong Kong Rugby 7’s! I thoroughly enjoyed working as an official photographer for HSBC as part of the team from Clique Visual Agency. I was privileged to work alongside some of the best sports photographers in the world and capture the games along with the colorful and enthusiastic fans, which the Rugby 7's is known for!
As a professional photographer, I’m often called away for assignments overseas. In May, I headed to Koh Samui, Thailand with Awethentic Studio. A swimsuit photoshoot with gorgeous model & yoga instructor Natalie Soderstrom was one of the highlights of course! This sunset image got my May photo-of-the-month vote, deservedly so, don’t you think!? More of my editorial work can be found HERE
Pre-wedding shoots are getting more and more popular for newly engaged couples. I could not have been more happy when actress and model Ankie Beilke and her hubby Simon booked me to do theirs. This turned out to be THE pre-wedding shoot and was featured by numerous top Hong Kong media outlets including Apple Daily. In fact, I had to write a blog all about it which you can check out HERE.
Are you on instagram? If yes, let's connect at @aligphoto, I’d love to hear from you!
In July I had the privilege to capture Dino and Anjali Sai’s fairytale destination wedding in Bali, Indonesia! This four-day Indian wedding extravaganza had an all-star line up and was the talk of the town for months! This intimate shot of the love-birds during their pre-wedding shoot used the backdrop of a cascading Balinese waterfall!
Often at weddings, the best photos are the candid moments. This was definitely the case during Jessica and Rob’s super fun wedding at the Peninsula Hotel Bangkok in Thailand. This photo of Jessica and her sweet flower girl is just so adorable and one of personal favorites from the whole wedding event!

In October I went to Greece for the first time. I took the opportunity to capture not only the amazing landscape the country has to offer but also to do a series of creative portraits of a wonderful artist named Sandra. I titled this shot 'A Dance in Santorini' which was captured on my Huawei Mobile phone and edited in Photoshop & Luminar software. It's always good to challenge oneself in order to grow as a creative artist.
Over the years as a Hong Kong based professional photographer, I’ve been regularly hosting photography workshops. November’s mobile photography workshop at The Hive Hong Kong was particularly special as Hong Kong had been facing some challenging times and still it pulled in a record number of enthusiastic attendees. The participants learnt tips & tricks for mouth-watering food photos, perfect portraits and storytelling street photos. Huge thanks to our sponsors The Hive Hong Kong, Phottix, Supa Food and Kristina Tru Diamonds.
Movie set or wedding shoot location!? My AMAZING 2019 was topped off with the grande finale Chinese wedding of stunning bride Jiao Jiao and her handsome hubby Ken! Not only were these two so much fun to photograph it was also great to be in Shenzhen, China. Here's one of their favorite images from the wedding day.
